Watching the Snow
It snowed this morning. Big, lovely flakes that swirled outside our window. I love this picture of him. He's doing his cute little mouth thing that he started a few days ago. I think it might be teething-related.
I'm slowly introducing more sign language to him. The only sign he really knows so far is 'bird' (he looks to George Lubbers's cage immediately when I sign it), but I'm sure he'll be picking up on diaper soon. Unlike many moms, I haven't taught him the sign for milk. Not sure why. I don't really like it. It's also kind of uncomfortable to have random people and strangers looking at you when your child is burrowing his face in your chest and crying. They immediately suggest, "Oh is he hungry?" And I don't want to add the milk sign (almost common knowledge now) into the mix. Because what if I'm trying to wean him and he's crying? I don't want him signing milk and everyone tsking me for not feeding him right away...
Anyway, so I was teaching him the word snow this morning. I think using the signs along with the words helps, because many signs are very pictorial. So I think when I sign 'snow' and point outside and say 'snow,' maybe he understands.
Luke is on his third toasty outfit of the morning, after having pooped on the first two. My idea of a great baby shower gift is totally different now. What I would give now:
1) Nosefrida (Luke has)

2) Downtime Sleepy hat (Luke doesn't have)

3) Shout (Luke's mom is on her 4th bottle)

4 Comments:
Yeah, he keeps destroying his diapers and often his clothes. Is it normal to have to bring a change of clothes every time we go out? :-0 Anyway, the Nosefrida is one of the great items that we have.
Okay, the Nosefrida thing...um, are you sucking the snot out? That gives me heebie-jeebies!! hehe And the nap hat is hilarious with those big closed eyes on it. Cute.
I loved seeing the snow and seeing Luke near it. You get some good pics of him.

That picture of Luke is so adorable... might need to go on my wall. Hmm.
Better name for the Nosefrida:
"The Suck-O-Snot" or "How I took the mucoidal drippings from my sons nose into my own mouth and lungs." *Norm Stare*
