More random pics

I found these as I was clearing out the camera memory stick.

What our house looks like during Luke's play time. Yes, he is naked; he was having some air out time. :)

Luke with Jason, AKA Nature Boy.

You all saw the peekaboo game video that we posted before. Initially, Luke would cover his eyes with both hands and then remove them, after which we'd say "Peek-a-boo." Then we began to vary the game by hiding behind things and peering out. Luke got the idea that you just have to look away and then look back at the person really fast and they'd say peek-a-boo. Now, his peek-a-boo has evolved into this really hysterical head shake. You can't help but laugh and say 'peek-a-boo' for him when he does it.

When Rich was in Africa recently, Luke was sick a little and teething a little and so he wasn't sleeping too well. So at night, I would just pull him in bed with me and nurse him and let him sleep there until morning. Well Luke really liked that set-up. And since then, he has not been going down nicely in his crib. This morning, he woke up at 10 'til 5am and I nursed him. He fell asleep and I laid him gingerly down in his crib. I don't know whether the crib isn't soft enough or what, but he started screaming. He cried his new, annoying cry on and off for an HOUR.
Finally, Rich went and got him at 6am. (We were sleeping on the air mattress in the living room.) Rich tried to play with him (we had planned on waking him up early to try to get his sleeping schedule back on track), but Luke was listless. Finally, Rich let him lay down on his pillow and Luke fell asleep! So Luke slept on Rich's pillow and I hid under the covers (because we're also trying to reestablish mornings as Luke's time with daddy) while Rich took a shower.
Anyway, all that to say that I didn't want to risk Luke screaming like that for his morning nap. So when I finally put him down at 11am (that is much later than normal, especially for a 6am wakeup!) I laid him on our bed, crossways, surrounded by pillows. He's been sleeping for an hour now, and I'm quite pleased.

Before Rich left, Luke had been sleeping through the night very nicely, with regular naps. Now his schedule is really messed up. I can't tell whether the trip and sleeping with me has thrown him off, or whether it's teething or just that he's rearranging his sleep schedule. (Most babies drop their morning nap between 9-12 months.)

****OK, he woke up at 12pm and whined. Then I came in and laid down with him. He laid there a minute with his eyes open, then turned and fell back asleep on the comforter. Now he's been sleeping since then. Maybe this is his one nap of the day!

He's always keeping us on our toes vis-a-vis the sleep. I love his new schedule of hell: the later bedtime, the earlier wake up, the cruel 30 minute quick nap at 6:30 AM when you are already awake (just to stick it to ya), and his new fondness for the bed. I can't wait to give him chores to prevent him from going out to play with his friends first thing on Sat mornings. All for spite.

LOL to Rich's comment.
Oh Lukie B.. I'm really happy, Em, that you'll be able to go to your barbri class and not worry about Luke during the day. I'm sure you'll be missing him like crazy, but it might be nice just to have a few hours away and not be thinking about sleeping schedules and all that. :)

Nothing beats sitting around the living room butt naked. Glad to see Luke embracing his natural side!
