Not Sleeping
I am so sorry that we haven't been updating! I have been really busy studying for the DC Bar Exam, which will take place July 29-30. Thankfully, our moms have been here watching Luke, cooking and cleaning for us! We are really blessed to have this kind of help.
Luke has handled the transition well. About a week before Ashlee came (the first week), Luke suddenly seemed OK to be with other people. We taught him goodbye a month or so before that, at least. We'd say 'goodbye' every time we left (usually just Rich would be leaving, though), and then of course, we came back at the end of the day. I have to think that he picked up on the pattern, and so wasn't disturbed when I started leaving with Rich.
Only thing is that for the last week, he hasn't been sleeping well. He's been waking up early on (sometime between 11pm-1am), at which point I usually just bring him in bed with us. That worked fine for a while. Then he started just waking up 2-3 more times and fussing. That is in addition to his periodic furies of rearranging himself to try to get comfortable. We're not sure what's wrong. Is he hot? Cold? Uncomfortable? Teething? (He IS getting his molars...)
Last night, he woke around 4:15am and was SO angry. I tried picking him up to kind of rock him back to sleep on my shoulder, but he wouldn't have it. He was kicking and snarling. (I know! Hard to imagine!) So I just sat him on the bed and he kept fussing and crying. He tried laying down a few times, but kept sitting back up and crying. Finally I said to him, "Luke I'm sorry you don't feel good. What's wrong? Are you hungry?" When I said that, he immediately stopped crying and kicked and said "Gyeh! Gyeh!" which is how Luke says 'yes.' So I nursed him and he slept peacefully till 6:45am!

You are fighting the good fight Em, keep up the good work! Before you know it, that test will be behind you and Luke will asking you to explain the difference between torts and contractual breeches. :)
Yeah, I never actually thought the sleeping could get worse. :-) I have been dealing with it by thinking that it's advanced training for enduring interrogations. Am I going to just give in or will I keep fighting? But it does hurt when his little man hands hit me in the face when he rearranges himself.
Awww, shame! I'm sorry ya'll aren't getting much sleep these days. :( Poor little guy! I hope it settles down so all can get good sleep again. :)
I can't wait to see ya'll at the end of August!! Love and hugs
Oh bummer... so sorry you're not sleeping again :( It's odd that he still seems to like to nurse during the night. I wonder when he'll grow out of that.
I miss you guys! Not sure when I'll be up there again soon, but I'm ready to see you guys again :)
it could also be night terrors/nightmares. Lincoln did the same thing and does from time to time...don't forget he's still getting more teeth in. Or he's afraid of the dark. Maybe a night light work do the trick.
